The Village of Love is seeking to fill the following position: Homeless Outreach Worker

**HOMELESS OUTREACH WORKER Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Deliver Harm Reduction Outreach services primarily in the field /encampments and maintain “drop-in hours” for basic supplies for clients not able to be reached in the field that week. ** Utilize an outreach vehicle and visit encampments and homeless individuals. **Responding to client’s priority felt need or emergency situations — food, health, income, transportation, etc. ** Utilize motivational interviewing skills to build trust and engage clients around priority felt and basic needs or emergency situations. **Provide cleaning materials (gloves, garbage bags, etc.) to encampments. ** Develop rapport and build an ongoing relationship with clients via regular and consistent contact. **Help link clients with clinical care management and other service resources. ** Help link clients with housing resource centers. **Provide Street-Based, and Office-Based, Case Management.** Other and additional related duties as needed and assigned to support the mission of the organization.

- Ability to perform under circumstances of possible emotional stress and conflict, including possibly dealing with uncooperative participants
- Ability to maintain timely and punctual attendance and adhere to organizational guidelines
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions

**Competencies**
- Excellent customer service and strong interpersonal skills; ability to engage a diverse group of participants, team-members and volunteers
- Good written and oral communication skills required
- Sensitivity to confidential matters is required
- Possess an outgoing and enthusiastic personality

**Required Education and Experience**
- Experience working with homeless populations is a plus
- Minimum 1 year Customer service or related experience is required
- High school diploma required
- Some college preferred
- Direct service experience with homeless or disadvantaged populations preferred
- Bilingual preferred

**Location**: Alameda, Ca

**Position Type**: Full Time (8 Hours), On Call (as needed)
