**Responsibilities and Duties**

**Overview**: As a material handler, you will be responsible for efficiently and safely handling materials within a warehouse. Your primary duties will include receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping materials to support production and distribution operations.

**Responsibilities**:

- **Receiving**: Receive incoming materials and verify their accuracy against purchase orders or shipping documents. Unload trucks and inspect materials for damage or defects.
- **Storage**: Safely store materials in designated locations within the warehouse. Organize and maintain inventory levels to ensure efficient storage and retrieval.
- **Picking**: Utilize picking lists or electronic systems to locate and retrieve materials from inventory. Ensure accuracy and completeness of orders picked.
- **Packing**: Prepare materials for shipment by packing them securely according to company standards. Label packages with appropriate shipping information.
- **Shipping**: Coordinate with shipping carriers to schedule pickups and ensure timely delivery of outbound shipments. Load trucks with packaged materials using appropriate equipment.
- **Inventory Control**: Conduct regular cycle counts and assist in physical inventory audits to maintain accurate inventory records. Report any discrepancies or shortages to management.
- **Equipment Operation**: Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely and efficiently. Perform routine maintenance checks and report any equipment malfunctions.
- **Safety Compliance**: Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe work environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and report any safety hazards or incidents.
- **Documentation**: Maintain accurate records of material transactions, including receipts, withdrawals, and transfers. Input data into computerized inventory systems as needed.
- **Communication**: Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to coordinate workflow and resolve any issues or concerns.

**Wage commensurate with skills and experience**

**Qualifications and Skills**
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in warehouse or material handling preferred.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects safely.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels.
