The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology is in search of a part-time Lab Technician to join Dr. Lasek's lab.
- **Position Summary**:

- Other jobs include but are not limited to:
- Ordering supplies
- Inventory and maintenance of laboratory supplies
- Routine maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Monitoring and disposal of biohazardous materials and chemical hazards
- Organization of the laboratory environment

**Core Responsibilities**:
1.) Rat and mouse studies of alcohol consumption
- 2.) Perform tissue processing, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, and microscopy
- 3.) General lab management:
- book keeping for all lab materials including chemical and animal inventories
- place order for supplies for all lab personnel
- responsible for IACUC and chemical inspections
- attending DAR and chemical training and meetings
- routine maintenance of lab equipment

**Minimum Hiring Standards**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field is required
- Experience working with laboratory animals (mice and/or rats) is required
- Performing tissue histology and microscopy is preferred Must have a demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in past experiences or a commitment to do so as an hourly employee at VCU
