**General Summary of Position**

**Job Summary**:
This role involves being responsible for escorts patients and transports items between patient units and ancillary departments.

**Primary Duties**:

- Obtains supplies/equipment/medications, as needed, from appropriate departments and transports to nursing units.
- Utilizes communication devices (bellboy, walkie-talkie) to respond to requests for service, and always maintains all devices in proper working condition.
- Obtains “STAT” medications from Pharmacy and delivers to nursing units.
- Assists nursing staff getting patients into chairs/beds/stretchers, and escorts/transports patients to and from ancillary departments.
- Responds to all “Codes” as assigned to transport and obtain requests for supplies, medications, etc.
- Transports specimens to appropriate laboratory.
- Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area. The above responsibilities are a general description of the level and nature of the work assigned to this classification and are not to be considered as all-inclusive.

**Qualifications**:

- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous hospital or patient care experience preferred.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
