**Duties**:

- Serves as a Security Specialist for Special Operations Command South (SOCSOUTH), responsible for administering the command’s Physical, Personnel, Information, and Industrial security programs.
- Develops long-range security plans and oversees the preparation of security inspection schedules to accomplish activity goals.
- Responsible for Special Operations Command South's (SOCSOUTH) physical security program, developing procedures and physical measures designed to safeguard personnel and prevent unauthorized access to equipment, facilities, and documents.
- Develops effective emergency action measures and serves as the lead in planning, coordination of operations, and support of mitigation efforts.
- Responsible for the overall development, administration, and implementation of Special Operations Command South's (SOCSOUTH) personnel security program IAW DoD 5200.02 and service-specific regulations and policies.
- Responsible for reviewing, coordinating, and monitoring implementation of policies governing Special Operations Command South (SOCSOUTH) Information Security Program.
- Acts as the point of contact for Special Operations Command South (SOCSOUTH) Industrial Security Program and matters pertaining to DoD contractors working or visiting SOCSOUTH.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- May require Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 10% of the time.
- This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program and requires the incumbent obtain Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
- Two year trial period may be required.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
- To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. **Specialized experience is defined as experience in developing and implementing a wide range of security concepts or principles which include Personnel Security (PERSEC) and Physical Security (PHYSEC) and experience utilizing at least one of the following: Information Security (INFOSEC) and/ or Industrial Security (INDUSEC). **This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-11).
- You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
- Information Security
- Personnel Security
- Physical Security
- Security

Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled.
- Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
