**Description/Duties**:
**_The current vacancy is in the Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities Department; however, this recruitment will be used to establish a Citywide list to fill possible future vacancies._**

Under general to limited supervision, a Contract Specialist performs a variety of activities associated with service and maintenance contract preparation, monitoring, and compliance work. A Contract Specialist has oversight of multiple, concurrent service agreements and/or contracts, and performs related work as required.

An employee in this class is involved in a variety of office and field activities associated with service and maintenance contract administration and monitoring. Although the contracts can involve virtually any service and maintenance function **_(based on assignment) _**associated with physical facilities, streets, rights-of-way, parkway, landscape maintenance, or other closely-related areas, the primary contracts may cover: custodial; pest and weed control; landscape, street tree, and irrigation system maintenance; arterial street and parking lot sweeping; asphalt and concrete repair and installation; street light and transit facility repair and maintenance; traffic signal repair and maintenance; seal coating; and storm drainage system maintenance **_(based on assignment)_**. This class is supervised by a Transportation Supervisor or Contract Supervisor through reports, meetings, and conferences regarding status of contracted projects, problems encountered, and overall results achieved. This class is FLSA nonexempt.

**Qualifications & Requirements**:

**Minimum Qualifications Required. **Graduation from high school or GED. Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to a minimum of three years’ full-time employment in service contract administration, monitoring, or inspection in the private or public sector. Two years of college coursework can substitute for one year of required experience.

**Special Requirements. **Must possess a valid Class D Arizona Driver’s License by hire or promotion date. Must possess an International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Work Zone Safety Specialist and IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level I within one year of hire or promotion date and IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level 1 and IMSA Traffic Signal Technical Level II are required within 24 months of hire or promotion date **_(Transportation ITS Assignment). _**Due to the required access to all secured buildings, for this position, an individual receiving a conditional offer of employment from the City of Mesa must pass a background investigation through the City of Mesa Police Department, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, and Federal Bureau of Investigation prior to commencing employment with the City of Mesa to allow full, unescorted access to police facilities **_(Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities Assignment)_**_._
