The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist will support EHS activities at a diverse, high-tech, end-to-end manufacturing facility with research, development, and distribution operations. Evaluating EHS risks of operations, including organizational change, ensuring continuous improvement of environmental program to make it leaner and more efficient.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Lead and support EHS programs that support the execution of the J&J EHS Policy and drive continuous improvements, including conducting risk assessments and actively participating on the emergency response team.
- Provide technical support and mentoring to site personnel to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and requirements. Support and facilitate site EHS teams to ensure implementation of the EHS program.
- Evaluate, review, and develop programs and assess compliance to ensure that workplace conditions align with all federal, state, local government, and company requirements and develop and implement corrective and preventive actions for identified EHS risks.
- Review new regulations from outside agencies and new Johnson and Johnson worldwide environmental health and safety policies and procedures against current site programs and practices for gaps and/or continuous improvement and non
- valuable activities.
- Monitor EHSS risk and impact review for new/changed materials, equipment, or processes are conducted on time following the MOC process.
- Conducts periodic review/inspection/audit visits, reporting observations and recommendations to EHSS management.
- Assists in the site’s EHSS assessments and specific issue-related corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) as directed by EHSS management.
- Works as integral support for site projects by providing technical support and working with the team to resolve potential risks and issues.
- Evaluate, plan, and implement EHSS training and awareness programs. Develop and implement training packages for online and/or classroom training.
- Develop, track, and report key performance indicators and metrics.
**Qualifications**:
**Education**:
- A University/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required, preferably in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or Engineering.
**Experience and Skills**:
**Required**:
- Zero to two (0-2) years of related work experience.
- Experience in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS).
- Experience identifying, evaluating, and controlling EHS risks in the workplace.
- Technical experience in diverse EHS areas.
- Proven project management skills and good interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and OSHA regulations.
- Proficiency in MS Office software programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
**Preferred**:
- Report creation, generation, and record-keeping systems experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of validated experience in Safety or Environmental, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to build and maintain professional working relationships with all levels of plant operations and staff.
- Training and presentation skills - the ability to conduct instructor-led and computer-based training and prepare all the documentation for the pieces of training.
**Other**:
- Standard hours are 8:00 am-5:00 pm but may require off-shift hours, including weekends, as needed by the business, and for site-related emergencies.
- Physical requirements may include working from ladders, elevated surfaces, platforms, high energy sources, controlled chemical substances, controlled infectious agents, and high-noise areas.
- The ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks such as lifting, carrying, bending, reaching, pulling, and pushing is required.
