The Village of Love is seeking to fill the following position: Overnight Shelter Attendant

**OVERNIGHT ATTENDANT Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:Provide a safe and welcoming environment: greet guests and visitors, respond to requests, provide support to staff and participants, follow center guidelines. **Sign in each guest that stays overnight ** In the morning assist with the departure process to ensure all clients are exited -Provide for the needs of guests during their overnight stay **Set up/take down sleep center; prepare cots, blankets, client bins, sleeping areas. Provide regular reporting of events and complete logs; daily. ** Providing de-escalation /crisis intervention as necessary. **Other and additional related duties as needed and assigned to support the mission of the organization**

- Must be able to work overnight and maintain vigilance

- Compassion, empathy for and understanding of problems, limitations, and needs of the homeless, A genuine concern for homeless and vulnerable populations
- A willingness and ability to work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors, Must possess a positive, helpful and pleasant attitude
- Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to perform under circumstances of possible emotional stress and conflict, including possibly dealing with uncooperative participants
- Ability to maintain timely and punctual attendance and adhere to organizational guidelines
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions

**Competencies**
- Excellent customer service and strong interpersonal skills; ability to engage a diverse group of participants, team-members and volunteers
- Good written and oral communication skills required
- Sensitivity to confidential matters is required
- Possess an outgoing and enthusiastic personality

**Required Education and Experience**
- Experience working with homeless populations is a plus
- Minimum 1 year Customer service or related experience is required
- High school diploma required
- Some college preferred
- Direct service experience with homeless or disadvantaged populations preferred
- Bilingual preferred

**Location**: Alameda, Ca

**Position Type**: Full Time (8 Hours), On Call (as needed)

Pay: $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
