**SHIFT/HOURS**:Mondays - Fridays, 7am - 3:30pm. Every 4th week, will be on-call and will work 4 hours on Saturday/Sunday.

**GENERAL PURPOSE**:Performs skilled wastewater maintenance tasks requiring the operation and maintenance of treatment process equipment, lift station equipment, machines and tools.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Perform routine maintenance of treatment plant and lift station equipment, buildings and grounds.
- Assist Senior Maintenance Worker with electrical analysis and repairs.
- Perform complex repairs to mechanical equipment.
- Perform electrical repairs under the general oversight of the Senior Maintenance Worker.
- Operate a variety of equipment and tools such as grinders, power drills, saws, hand tools, hydraulic tools, mowing equipment, light tractors, air compressors and vehicles and other equipment as may be required.
- Under the general supervision of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent, perform normal operations of the Wastewater Treatment Plant which may include:

- Read and record plant monitoring equipment and instruments.
- Prepare solutions for laboratory analysis.
- Obtain samples for analysis from various plant locations within the plant and City sanitary collection system.
- Perform laboratory analysis as required under the direction of the plant superintendent.
- Calculate results of all laboratory analysis on bench sheet and record on monthly operating reports.
- Clean and/or sterilize all glassware, dishes and equipment as required.
- Perform adjustments of the Wastewater Treatment process as required.
- Pump sludge to digester as required.
- Perform work of lower classified employees.
- Work alone with a minimum of supervision.
- Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
- Education and Experience: _High school diploma or equivalent. Satisfactory completion of accredited course works in chemistry and algebra. Documented completion of accredited course work in single phase and three phase circuitry for up to 600 volts including electrical equipment repair and motor control circuits.
- Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:_

Six months minimum experience with trouble shooting and repair of motor control circuits and single and three phase circuits up to 600 volts. Occasional contact with the public requiring courtesy, discretion, and sound judgment

**LICENSING AND CERTIFICATION**:Must possess a valid State of Michigan driver's license.

**TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED**
The tools and equipment used in this position include, but are not limited to, computers, two-way radio, lab equipment, chemical analyzers, motorized vehicles, calculators, hand tools, monitoring equipment, multimeters, pumps, generators, filter equipment, telephone, personal protective equipment, chemical feeders.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and smell.

Medium level of physical effort required; must be able to lift up to 80 lbs. May be required to lift heavier items with assistance of coworkers or usage of available equipment.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
