**Responsibilities**:

- Maintain inventories of materials and supplies needed for the conduct of NHP experiments with infectious agents and make recommendations to TBIP program director for purchasing.
- Assist with providing critical care and intervention of an anesthetized patient, knowing when there is an issue and how to correct it if necessary.
- Process blood and tissues according to specific needs of multiple experiments and maintain databases of the results of these test results.
- Maintain accurate animal records and documentations associated with technical procedures of the animals.
- Clearly communicate any changes in animals’ health status to facility veterinarian and appropriate team members.
- Assist in training TBIP staff in use of centrifuges, CBC machine, Chemistry machine, i-STAT, glucometer, and other equipment.
- Assist the Federal Task Leader in monitoring inventories, ordering materials and monitoring the spending of the section, communicate with vendors to establish maintenance contracts and fix equipment when necessary.
- Advise the Federal Task Leader and other members on clinical monitoring of animals. Provide feedback on methods and technical procedures to improve upon workflow and results of animal monitoring, where applicable.
- Collect and organize data, assist with data analysis and interpretation, and assist in preparing technical reports, manuscripts, summaries, protocols, and inventories.
- Communicate results with the Federal Task Leader and staff scientists as well as other collaborators as requested.

Qualifications:

- AS or BS degree in scientific related field or related certifications such as ALAT, LATg, etc.
- 3 or more years of working experience in a lab/animal facility setting.
- Demonstrates knowledge of maintaining accurate and detailed records.
- Demonstrates knowledge of proper laboratory disposal methods and safety procedures.
- Proficient computer skills with spreadsheets and other software to record data.
- In-person work in the BSL-3 laboratory to assay samples from NHPs, rabbits, and mice as requested.
- Effective and clear communication skills and the ability to work in a high stress environment.
- Ability to work in a team under oversight in ABSL-3 laboratory environments following SOPs.
- Must be able to pass extensive background check and Public Trust 5 clearance.
- Willing to work flexible hours, weekend work possible.
- Some positions or sites may require that the incumbent be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination may be required._
