**Special Instructor Qualifications**:
1.Master's degree from an accredited college or university in education, special education, child development or family studies.

2. Certified SIs, need to provide a valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate.

3. Complete competencies as state mandated.

4. One year experience working directly with children with developmental delays and their families.

**Special Instructor Job Responsibilities**:

- Design the learning environment and activities to encourage the child to acquire developmental skills, cognition and social skills. Work with family and caregivers to establish daily routines to increase learning.
- Provide information and resources to families as needed.
- Adhere to all federal, state and county guidelines for affiliated School Districts.
- Participate in IEP meetings as indicated.
- Ensure all students are serviced in their least restrictive environment.
- Plan and organize instruction in ways to maximize the child's learning.
- Implement a curriculum that encourages goal attainment as per the IEP.
- Understand the special needs of the child and advocate for the child with others.
- Attend and participate in meetings as needed.
- Maintain all documents as per ALFS policy and document findings timely, accurately and adhering to all educational guidelines.
