**Job Description: 6-12 ESL/ELL Teacher for ELA**
(ESL newcomer and intermediate students) **Must have both ELA (6-12) and ESL Endorsement.**

Chicago Math and Science Academy is a Level 1+ school in Rogers Parking serving students grades 6 through 12. We are currently hiring for an ESL/ELL Teacher.

**Essential Job Functions**:

- Provide personalized academic and language instruction to English Learners in ESL, sheltered instruction, English Language Development, and ESL strategies.
- Provide direct ESL services and instruction to identified students in push-in and pull-out instruction
- Develop and deliver lesson plans that utilize appropriate instructional techniques that enable limited English proficient students to overcome barriers
- Adapt curriculum and provide tailored academic instruction as appropriate and in alignment with student goals and program mode
- Adapts classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address learning needs
- Obtains training for and assists with the administration of language assessments for the purpose of evaluating student language proficiency (WIDA screenings and ACCESS testing)
- Maintains organized records of documentation regarding student achievement in core courses
- Collaborate and coordinate with staff to support students experiencing academic performance challenges related to English language learning
- Interprets student performance data and implements appropriate support structures
- Communicates and confers effectively both orally and in written form with students, parents, colleagues, and administration
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- **Licensure**: Valid Illinois Professional Educators License (PEL)
- **Endorsement**:English as a Second Language (ESL) (Grades 6-12) **AND **English Language arts (6-12)
- Bachelor's degree with experience working in a multicultural setting
- Knowledge of evidence-based language acquisition strategies

**Desired Qualifications**:

- Bilingual Spanish Endorsement
- Bilingual English/Spanish

**Benefits**:

- Starting Salary: $60,000_
- Education: Plus $1,000 for master’s degree, $2,000 for doctorate degree._
- Experience: Plus $1,000/yr up to 10 years. (K-12 prof teaching) $250 for years 11-20_
- 8 workdays of annual paid time off as sick & personal days_
- Contribution to your CTPF Retirement Plan (7% paid by employer)_
