**Description**:
The mission of Gaston County Parks and Recreation is to acquire, develop, maintain, and manage parks; efficiently manage public resources, and provide opportunities for citizens to participate in wholesome leisure activities.

The County Parks and Recreation Department plans, develops, and maintains parks, and provides an array of organized activities to help meet the leisure needs of the citizens of the County.

**Examples of Duties**:
The duties listed below are not all the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered essential for an employee to perform.
- Open and close park gates daily as per operating hours.
- Clean park daily, including: restrooms, waterfront, beach, fishing piers, and picnic areas.
- Follow and post water safety guidelines and rules, as needed.
- Assist staff with traffic flow management.
- Assist with maintenance services, including but not limited to: lawn maintenance, swim beach/lake maintenance, restroom maintenance, and other facilities, as needed.
- Assist public with questions, needs, and concerns.
- Inspect equipment, piers, shelters, tables, and other equipment, and make repairs as needed. Remove any equipment, as required.

**Minimum Qualifications**:
High school diploma or GED equivalency with one (1) year of park maintenance experience or a related field is required.

A valid driver's license is required. Must be able to multi-task and work with others. Must be able to work in extreme heat and cold. Ability to communicate effectively with public, supervisors, and others is required.

**Additional Information**:
Minimally qualified applicants will be hired at 25% of the salary range: $16.89/hr
