This position is in the Business Development Unit within the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (ODMPED). The District of Columbia’s Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (ODMPED) assists the Mayor in the coordination, planning, supervision, and execution of economic development efforts in the District of Columbia with the goal of creating and preserving affordable housing, creating jobs, and increasing tax revenue.
The incumbent serves as an expert Business Development Specialist, providing support.The Director on various business attraction, retention and expansion efforts. Incumbent is responsible for analyszing complex data (such as rates of job loss and creation, business creation, expansion and depature); effectively, conveying insights from data to inform business development efforts; supporting project management and promotion; participating with employer engagement; and supporting strategic initiatives.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
Analyzes problems to identify significant factors, gathers pertinent data, and develops alternative solutions. Solves complex business process and information requirement problems; process improvement techniques; and proven analytic practices. Creates and develops marketing strategies, and creates and implements effective solutions related to business workflow issues. Creates and develops customer awareness programs. Interprets and explains procurement, fiscal managements, proposed expenditures, and ODMPED procedures to ensure the unit’s vision is promulgated. Develops and implements business-targeted communications and outreach activities. Maintains project documentation on outreach activities, including the evaluation, and after-action reports, assessing effectiveness of major project initiatives.
**Qualifications and Education**
Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skill and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, one (1) year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.
**Selective Placement Factor**
Applicant must have experience in managing grant programs for small businesses (specifically **designing**, **implementing**, and **monitoring performance and compliance**).
