Due to continued growth, we are looking to add a **Shop Assistan**t to our location in Baltimore, MD. As the **Shop Assistant**, you will assist in the delivery of tools and materials to the job sites, along with the maintenance of the shop.
**As a Shop Assistant, you will**:
- Ensure material is available for the local shop.
- Prepare each job in accordance with the fabrication list or verbal/written instructions.
- Operate shop equipment and machinery in accordance with safety requirements.
- Report discrepancies to Management
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area at all times.
- Assist the Shop Foreman as required.
- Previous experience testing and maintaining fire extinguishers.
**Qualifications and or Experience**:
- Strong mathematical skills with the ability to read a tape measure and add/subtract fractions.
- Strong communication, organizational, reading and time management skills.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two years of experience in a shop setting a plus
**Certificates, Licenses, Registrations**:
- Valid driver's license
**Physical Demands and Work Environment**:
- Ability to climbs ladders up to 6 foot.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds by self and up to 100 pounds assisted (with another person or mechanical assistance)
- Two years of experience in a shop setting a plus
- Ability to drive a fork-lift.
- Shop environment with exposure to outside elements during all seasons
