The PVS Curriculum and Student Outcomes product organization strives to provide curriculum that is effective, engaging, compliant, and data-enriched. It enables the achievement of student outcomes by providing curriculum, accessible and actionable data and insights, and features and functionality that empower teachers, caretakers, and the students themselves.

**Role Description**:
Working from home or from one of Pearson’s US-based offices, the Director of Curriculum Development is responsible for the development of curriculum in various disciplines for grades K-12. Reporting to the Vice President of Curriculum, the Director leads the teams responsible for designing, developing, reviewing, and revising curriculum used by over 100K students in over 30 states each year. The Director will be responsible for the overall content quality and authoring practices with oversight of functional managers and the respective teams responsible for the end-to-end development of curriculum, including Content Frameworks, Content Development, Editorial/Rights and Permissions, Multimedia, and Curriculum Small Wins.

The Director of Curriculum Development will be a leader in the curriculum and student outcomes product organization, working closely with the Director of Development Management, Directors of Product Management, and Director of Instructional Partners and contributing directly to the strategy and direction of the broader team. They will develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues throughout PVS, particularly those in efficacy and research, sales and proposals, and compliance.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop and manage a high-performing team of functional managers centered around a culture of accountability, engagement, continuous improvement, and inclusion. Support and enable career growth and professional development, with succession planning in mind.
- Set and manage high performance expectations for the curriculum department through support and supervision of functional managers and the teams they lead.
- Establish and implement success criteria for the curriculum development organization. Ensure curriculum development support documentation and training is aligned to and equips team to achieve those success criteria.
- Direct regular evaluation and revision of support documentation and training as needed to support the success of internal and external development teams and to stay aligned with industry best practices and innovations.
- Foster a community of trust and engagement through consistent communication and transparency around strategic direction and decision-making. Develop and maintain a connection to the people in your organization and an understanding of the work they do.
- Employ data analysis, understanding of the business context, judgment, and appropriate approaches (e.g. authoritative, consensus building) to make effective, timely decisions. Own the communication, stakeholder management, and outcomes of your decisions.
- Support the Director of Development Management and the project management team in evaluating, establishing, and managing development partners.
- Stay up-to-date with the PVS product roadmap and strategy to ensure the curriculum development teams are informed, equipped, and empowered to be successful.
- Support the effective use of Pearson curriculum and seek out and respond to customer feedback through collaboration with the instructional partner, product marketing, and training and go-to-market teams.
- Represent PVS and the curriculum department in customer engagements, e.g. school leader meetings; school board meetings; department of education meetings; sales presentations.
- Represent PVS and the curriculum department at internal and external conferences including preparing and delivering presentations.
