JOB SUMMARY Inspector in training. Initially performs supervised work, and once competency is proven, unsupervised gauging and sampling of shore tanks and sampling of barges and ships. Performs barge inspections under the supervision of an experienced Inspector. Certifies that field assignments conform to company policies and procedures as well as job specific instructions supplied by the Operations Department. As company field representative, acts in a professional and dignified manner to maintain the company’s respected and trusted reputation.

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES As instructed by the Operations Department and under the strict guidelines described in the Inspection and ASTM/API manuals: 1. Acts as a Company representative in the field. Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities as per company policies and procedures. Maintains regular contact with Operations Department in order to receive work orders and schedules. 2. Effectively communicates all aspects of assigned job duties. Maintains regular contact with Operations Department, terminals and vessel to avoid delays or conflicts. 3. Obtains, labels and transports samples to the laboratory in a timely manner as required by each specific job assignment. 4. Maintains assigned inspection equipment in good working order and ensures equipment is properly calibrated and stored. 5. Initially while industry designated as a “Short Service Employee”, works under the direct supervision of an experienced inspector, measures (gauge and temperature) products, performs all field calculations, completes all require field documentation and submits reports to the Operations Department in a timely manner. 6. Reports to the Field Trainer/Supervisor, Operations Supervisor, Manager, and/or his/her designee.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS No minimum experience necessary. Requires a High School Diploma (or equivalent) with good math skills. Must complete training and pass corresponding field evaluations.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS Must maintain a valid Transportation Worker’s Identification Card (TWIC). Possess and maintain a vehicle in good working order, a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance and registration.

**DESIRED ATTRIBUTES **Must be dependable, able to work independently and provide guidance and supervision to other Inspector’s. Must be able to effectively communicate and maintain professional relationships with numerous clients (i.e. Loss Control Representative, terminal and vessel/barge personnel). Must meet and maintain site-specific requirements mandated by customers and/or terminals to have access to all facilities.

**FITNESS FOR DUTY - PHYSICAL DEMANDS** The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the mínimal essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to handle and feel objects, tools, or controls, and to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and carry equipment, including bottles and necessary measurement equipment to perform the essential job function. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands with arms. The employee must sometimes lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee is sometimes required to climb and descend stairways and ladders. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
