Job Description:
The Division of Pre-College and Undergraduate Programs is responsible for developing and offering non-credit and credit courses and programs for over 6,000 high school students, as well as Brown University undergraduate and Visiting Students from other institutions. Students participate in programs on Brown University’s Providence campus, as well as online and in other locations domestically and internationally. Within the Division, there are teams of staff who are responsible for marketing, admissions, enrollment, academic content, instructional delivery, student life, finance, human resources, payroll, and the various policies and protocols associated with this work. Staff work closely with colleagues from across the University to ensure success, including the Registrar’s Office, the Office of Information Technology, and Facilities Management.

The Brown Collegiate Scholars Program (BCSP) is a four-year, year-round college access program for students living and learning in Providence. The Program seeks to empower academically motivated public school students who live and learn in Providence to explore their interests and strengthen their academic preparation in order to identify, select, afford, and attend colleges that align with their aspirations. As a reflection of the University’s approach to student-centered learning, the focus will be on developing student agency as a means for self-reflection, exploration, and self-determination. Particular attention will be focused on serving students who are the first in their families to go to college and/or who have limited financial resources.

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of BCSP, the Curriculum & Student Support Manager is responsible for coordinating the successful implementation of program curriculum, ensuring that instruction is aligned with curriculum goals. The Curriculum & Student Support Manager coaches summer instructors in developing strategies and techniques for instruction and assessing student achievement including selection of instructional materials and developing and implementing assessment tools. BCSP students will have access to a variety of support, including professional staff, year-round mentors who will be community members from both in and out of the University and academic tutors who will be Brown students selected and trained by the University’s Annenberg Institute for School Reform. The Curriculum & Student Support Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the mentoring program and will work closely with the Annenberg Institute to coordinate the academic year tutoring program for BCSP students.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate, support and troubleshooting of year-round community volunteers 40%- Manage curriculum, student assessment and analysis of student outcomes 35%- Support and coach summer instructors in navigating student outcomes 25%

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience- Bachelor’s Degree and 2-4 years of experience or equivalent of education and experience required.- Experience in curriculum instruction required.- Experience in teacher coaching preferred.- Experience in urban schools and/or non-profit organizations preferred.- Experience with college access programming preferred.- Experience working with first-generation and low-income communities.- Superior computing abilities including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps for Education and basic technology troubleshooting experience required.Experience working with a CRM (i.e. Salesforce) and other student systems preferred.

Job Competencies- Thorough knowledge of theories and principles in ELA and math.- Thorough knowledge of the RI Core Standards for ELA and Math.- Considerable knowledge of the current literature, trends, and developments in the field of education. Considerable knowledge of the principles of supervision, organization and administration.- Skilled in coaching and leadership.- Ability to review and evaluate testing results and to develop a plan of action based on conclusions.- Ability to select appropriate and effective textbooks and other materials.- Ability to develop innovative and effective instructional materials.- Excellent communication skills (virtual, oral, and written)- Outstanding organizational skills and ability to do detail-oriented work- Ability to meet stringent deadlines and work under pressure- Ability to troubleshoot in a complex and changing work environment- Must have the ability to work effectively independently and as a member of a team- Strong analytical and time management skills- Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
