**Grant Writing and Management**:

- Engage with leadership, team members and the board of directors to garner support and involvement in fundraising activities.
**Reporting and Analysis**:
- Provide regular reports to the leadership team on fundraising activities and outcomes.
- Utilize feedback and data to assess the effectiveness of fundraising strategies.
**Qualifications**:
**Education**:
Bachelor's degree in English, communications, nonprofit management, or related field (or equivalent education and experience).
**Experience/Skills**:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in grant writing for local nonprofit organizations.
- Knowledge of local nonprofit fundraising and grant management partners and protocols
- Proven leadership skills
- Strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects/priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with grant databases and funding sources.
- Highly organized with attention to detail.

**Schedule/Location**:

SDBA’s three main initiatives include business, community and real estate development:
**Business Development**
SDBA spearheads impactful business development initiatives, leveraging resources like the Small Business Advocacy Center. Through focused efforts including strategic job creation initiatives, we empower local businesses, fostering a dynamic and resilient commercial environment.
Small Business Assistance Center (SBAC) -- The SBAC provides bilingual coaching and technical assistance to local entrepreneurs. This capacity building helps existing and new small businesses grow and succeed, addressing a vast array of needs, including assistance with business plans, LLC registration, city permits, licenses, certifications, accounting practices and insurance.
Community Economic Development Grant (CED) -- In November, 2022, SDBA was awarded a $800,000 federal grant for expansion of business operations and creation of 32 new high-quality jobs.
Mexicantown Main Street -- SDBA’s Mainstreet program is implementing a comprehensive, commercial district economic development plan to revitalize, strengthen, market and promote the Mexicantown Main Street/Business District. The program follows the State’s and National Main Street model, which is based on a four-point approach: organization, promotion, design and economic vitality.
Business Improvement District (BID) -- Funded by its members through property assessments, the West Vernor & Springwells Business Improvement District (BID) maintains, improves, and enhances the shopping district to create a clean, welcoming, and secure place for residents and visitors.
**Real Estate Development**
SDBA's real estate initiative creates a dynamic ecosystem where businesses and residents can thrive, shop, and work in the heart of Southwest Detroit.
La Joya Gardens -- In collaboration with public and private partners, SDBA, Cinnaire Solutions and the City of Detroit are spearheading the development of La Joya Gardens. This $24 million mixed-use, mixed income project is strategically positioned in the heart of the West Vernor corridor. La Joya Gardens will feature 53 residential housing units and 3 commercia
