**Mission of the Position**:
Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of individuals with disabilities? As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you'll play a vital role in providing direct active supports to individuals, ensuring consistency in implementing their Person-Centered Plans (PCPs) and various support plans. Your primary goal will be to support individuals in all aspects of daily life, utilizing teachable moments and methods to integrate them into their communities.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Provide day support, community integration, and employment training to individuals, either at our facility or in the community.
- Collaborate with individuals and others to plan and implement supports that promote independence and community inclusion.
- Create a person-centered environment of support for individuals, focusing on their strengths and capabilities.
- Participate in the development and documentation of achievable outcomes for PCPs.
- Assist individuals with personal care needs as required, including dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Report any evidence of abuse, neglect, or safety issues immediately and complete incident reports as necessary.
- Maintain open communication with coworkers, caregivers, and supervisors.
- Provide skill reinforcement activities in areas such as socialization, communication, and self-determination.
- Provide transportation following agency policies and procedures.

**Communication Skills**:

- Ability to read and interpret documents and compose well-written reports and correspondence.
- Effective verbal communication skills, including courtesy and tact in dealing with individuals and the community.
- Proficiency in utilizing computers and technology for documentation and communication purposes.

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Strong interpersonal skills to develop positive relationships with individuals and exercise courtesy in interactions.
- Basic math skills and ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Capacity to monitor emergency equipment and respond professionally in emergencies.
- Willingness to professionally support individuals with challenging behavior.

**Qualifications**:

- Valid driver’s license for at least 3 years, acceptable driving history, and proof of auto insurance.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to pass mandatory and random drug screens and criminal background checks.
- CPR/First Aid, Medicaid Waiver, and Medication Assistance Certifications, with a satisfactory Tuberculosis Screening.

**Physical Demands**:

- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and bending, with good reaction response to protect personal space.

**Work Environment**:

- Exposure to various weather conditions and moderate noise levels in the work environment.

**90-day Training Period Expectations**:

- Successful completion of medications, First Aid, and CPR exams.
- Effective work with individuals receiving services.
- Completion of training requirements including Positive Behavior Intervention and proper lifting techniques.

Pay: $14.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
