An Assembly Technician III must assemble, align, test, and calibrate electro
- and/or opto-mechanical subassemblies and instruments. Assemble intricate electro
- and/or opto-mechanical assemblies with precision tools and fixturing. Integrate the electro
- and/or opto-mechanical components and assemblies with state-of-the-art computers to perform the final system qualification and inspection. Troubleshoot subassemblies, finished units, and/or production opto-mechanical assemblies and repair as necessary, all under the direction of the Production Manager.

**Essential Functions**:

- Perform assembly operations on opto-mechanical parts
- Package assemblies and subassemblies
- Troubleshoot Simple and Complex Builds
- Troubleshoot test beds
- Train and assist others on Tech I & II skills, as required
- Train others on equipment operation and manufacturing concepts
- Perform visual inspections for obvious damage or defects
- Assist Machine Shop with design and fabrication of Assembly fixtures & tools
- Assist Project Management/Engineering with prototypes; provide feedback of designs and ways to improve
- Assist in writing work instructions and procedures
- Lead LEAN & 5S initiatives
- Perform light housekeeping to keep work area clean and organized according to our 5s program
- Assist in creation/updating of Control Plans and Inspection Plans
- Timeliness and regular attendance are required
- Must be willing to work overtime as required
- Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations

**Required Skills & Abilities**:

- Optics Handling Certification (within a reasonable time of start date)
- Read and understand complex assembly drawings, blue prints, production orders and work instructions
- Understand quality protocols (in-process and final inspection)
- Strong mechanical background
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- US Citizenship or Permanent Residence required

**Education/Experience**:
High school diploma or equivalent; minimum of four (4) years related prior work experience.

**Physical** **Requirements**:
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds; occasional bending and lifting; ability to stand for long periods of time; work in warehouse environment; may be required to use a ladder to organize or obtain supplies; may be required to use shop and power tools to modify parts or equipment.
