**Sonia Shankman Orthogenic School** of **Chicago, IL** is seeking to hire **full-time High School Teaching Assistants **to play a vital role in our students' academic success. Teachers work **Monday-Friday, 8:15am-4:30pm** with a shortened academic day in the summer and **time off in July and August**.

The Sonia Shankman Orthogenic School (O-School) is a private independent school that provides extraordinary educational and therapeutic services to students aged 8-22. **Education/Experience Minimum Requirements**:
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably with a background in counseling
- **_ Illinois State Certification, Type 39 - within 90 days of employment_**
- Academic background in elementary education and/or a core content in a secondary education area preferred
- Experience with students with Emotional Disabilities and/or Autism preferred
- Two years of experience working with severely emotionally disturbed students as a counselor or within a classroom setting preferred
- Applicants should possess a strong commitment to strength perspective, empowering families and a willingness to work in a high demanding work situation that requires flexibility and innovativeness
