**Position Focus**:

- In 1971, Yale University established Yale Health to provide health services to its facility, staff and students through a multidisciplinary health maintenance organization located on campus. Yale Health has more than 47,000 members including students, staff, faculty and their families who come from every state in the country and almost every country in the world. We are celebrating over 50 years of service to the Yale community.
- Our state-of-the-art facility at 55 Lock Street, is where our members receive most of their care from our 150+ providers. It is a 144,000 square foot medical facility with over 90 exam rooms, an Acute Care Department, a 15-bed inpatient facility with negative pressure rooms, a diagnostic imaging suite including MRI and CT scan, x-ray and ultrasound and a full-service retail pharmacy.
- The Central Sterile Lead Technician is responsible for assigning work duties to all central sterile technicians depending on volumes in various clinics and workload each day, and to ensure proper ordering of all supplies needed in the department, including sending scopes out for repair and arranging for loaners. The Central Sterile Lead Technician decontaminates, cleans, sorts, inspects, organizes, wraps, and sterilizes medical surgical supplies for all of Yale Health. Additional responsibilities include ensures all regulatory requirements are met by maintaining all records of testing dates. Monitors all equipment and reports any repairs to building department services manager.- Operate steam sterilizer, monitor, and document steam sterilization process, inspect steam sterilizer equipment, and perform scheduled preventative maintenance. Perform daily biological testing of sterilization systems and document results. Provide and maintain a safe, clean, and uncluttered sterile package storage area. Provide safe and prompt transport of contaminated and sterilized instruments to and from instrument reprocessing suite. Order and maintain supplies required for reprocessing suite. Perform disinfection process on specialized instruments/equipment. Set up scopes in procedure rooms and test all mechanical functions prior to procedures. Perform other duties as delegated by manager and/or designee.

**Required Education and Experience**
- Six years of related work experience, four of them in the same job family at the next lower level, and high school level education; or four years of related work experience and an Associate’s degree; or little or no work experience and a Bachelor's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

**Required Skill/Ability 1**:

- Demonstrated ability with steam sterilizer operation, preferably Olympus System operation training.

**Required Skill/Ability 2**:

- Demonstrated ability in the use of standard precautions as related to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Bloodborne Pathogen Standard.

**Required Skill/Ability 3**:

- Ability to work independently.
