**Essential Functions**:
Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor, the Recovery Support Specialist is responsible for the ongoing development of recovery plans of action, accessing community resources, monitoring clinical engagement of treatment and ensuring recovery activities and responsibilities are completed by participants.

**Recovery Support Specialist Responsibilities**:

- The Recovery Support Specialist is responsible for searching and locating community and recovery resources for all participants.
- The Recovery Support Specialist assists in the ongoing development of recovery plans of action.
- The Recovery Support Specialist is responsible for the monitoring the engagement of the clinical treatment of the participant.
- Periodically conduct life skills and recovery meetings based on qualifications.
- Documentation, utilizing spreadsheets, excel, and service documentation.
- Contingency management planning and utilization.
- Reviews weekly recovery activities, plans, and goals and make recommendations.
- Must attend and participate in assigned meetings.
- Participate in team meetings, agency meetings and agency fundraising efforts.
- Responsible for creating and disseminating communication for participants.
- The Recovery Support Specialist must maintain long term stable recovery.
- The Recovery Support Specialist must be willing to disclosed as appropriate being in recovery from a mental health, substance use or addiction diagnosis.
- Recovery Support Specialist must be willing to share his/her own story of recovery as an inspiration to others.
- The Recovery Support Specialist must be able to obtain and maintain state certification.
- The Recovery Support Specialist should be able to take direction, be prompt, take initiative, complete tasks as assigned, and be able to work effectively as part of a team that includes community stakeholders.
- The Recovery Support Specialist should be articulate and have good communication skills.
- The Recovery Support Specialist agrees to adhere to the Code of Ethics.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
- The Recovery Support Specialist should have at minimum a basic understanding of: the concept of recovery as it relates to behavioral health, Peer support (Recovery Coaching), and Wellness and recovery planning.

**Recovery Support Specialist Qualifications**:

- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and training.
- Willingness to work in the community and in the office.
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish)
- Flexible to adapt to schedules and work load to the needs and demands of the program.
- Possession of a valid Illinois motor vehicle operator’s license and willingness to use personal vehicle in course of employment.
- H.A.S. requires all staff to work on-site.

**Education and Experience Requirements**:

- Must possess a High School Diploma or its equivalent.
- Must minimum of 2-3 years of sustained sobriety preferred.
- Must have NCRS Certification from ICB/IAODAPCA or obtain within 6 months from date of hire.
- CADC certification is preferred but not required.
