**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**A day in the life**: An Inventory Coordinator is relationship-focused and leverages their network to build and deepen relationships with vendors, weights and measures, and internal departments. They will work on a wide variety of projects from maintaining the day-to-day, to researching and implementing new practices and software tools. No two days will ever be the same. The Inventory Coordinator reports to the Field Services Operations Manager.
**On a given day you will spend time**:
- Verifying and recording any items taken/returned from the technicians.
- Coordinating and receiving shipments from our vendors, and separating them out to their respective projects, ensuring they are accurately labelled and logged in the inventory software.
- Coordinating deliveries to the weights and measures departments of different counties in California and ensuring we have a great working relationship with them.
- Conducting follow-ups with vendors and the county to provide other departments with updates on product delivery timelines.
- Forecasting future needs and submitting purchase requisitions to the purchasing department.
- Partnering with the sales team to allocate inventory to future projects.
- Participating in meetings to discuss product availability and provide updates on timelines.
**The responsibilities we’ll trust you with**:
- Keep us organized:
- Monitor and track inventory levels, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
- Coordinate with other departments to optimize inventory flow and minimize stockouts.
- Analyze data and generate reports on inventory performance and trends.
- Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
- Plan ahead:
- Forecast and plan inventory requirements based on sales trends and business needs.
- Source inventory from suppliers, negotiating prices and terms.
- Work closely with the finance team to manage inventory budgets and expenses.
- Move us forward:
- Develop and implement inventory management procedures and best practices.
- Reorganize the shelves, propose new software, and be the author of “How MeterNet Manages Inventory”.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives in inventory management.
**Your knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role**:
- Hard Skills:
- 2-3 years of experience in Inventory/Warehouse Management or related role.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in inventory management software and tools.
- Prior implementation of a new inventory system is a plus.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and a focus on accuracy.
- Knowledge of water sub-metering industry practices is a plus.
