**ESSENTIAL TASKS**:
Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here.
- Performs litter collection and installation of litter control devices
- Removes contaminants from stockpiles of recyclables
- Performs tasks necessary to maintain the appearance of the facility such as mowing and controlling vegetation.
- Assists Operation Skilled Laborers in tasks such as changing leachate pumps.
- Performs spotter duties when assigned.
- Assist Landfill Heavy Equipment Mechanic in performing repairs and service work.
- Performs other laborer duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS**:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Must possess a valid drivers’ license. Must possess First Aid and CPR certification (Certification training provided by DSWA).

**Note: This is a safety sensitive position and requires drug testing as a condition of employment.**

Demonstrate knowledge and experience with tools, equipment and machinery applicable to this position. Demonstrate knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions associated with this position. Knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools. Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures. Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to interact with the public and staff in a courteous and tactful manner.

**Physical Requirements**:
This position requires standing, walking, sitting, gripping with hands, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, talking or hearing.

This position requires lifting up to 50 pounds.

The position requires: Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less). Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more). Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors). Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up or down or to the left and right when vision is fixed on a given point). Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships). Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).

Position risks exposure to indoor environment, outdoor environment, noise, extreme temperatures, vibration, moisture and/or humidity, dust, fumes, gases, electrical hazards, mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, and burn hazards.
