Safety Manager

**Position**:The primary responsibility of this position is to provide safety support to field and office employees. This includes evaluating safe work practices, safety policy, procedures, and rules, facilitating incident investigation, conducting safety field observations, and other operational needs as appropriate.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:
An energetic and mature self-starter, detail and results oriented person with the ability to complete multiple tasks. Must be able to work independently, use time wisely and have excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral. Skills: MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint internet. Ability to travel to project work sites daily or as needed. Ability to observe and perceive any work activity that might become a potential hazard. Must demonstrate a basic knowledge in governing OSHA standards for construction and industrial and other federal and state guidelines.

**Education & Certifications**:Associates degree in Safety Management, Occupation Safety and Health or related practical field experience. Completed OSHA 30-hour course. 4+ years of experience working in a construction/industry, specifically with rigging, confined space, and fall protection. Other safety and industry training such as First Aid, CPR, and AED required. Understanding of DOT, OSHA compliance regulations, and reporting are required.

**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- Lead in safety communication, participate in Safety Meetings, and produce Safety Reports to the Safety Director, and corporate office.
- Manage job site safety toolbox talks.
- Regional recordkeeping of incidents. Audit to ensure records are completed.
- Relay safety responsibilities to all employees.
- Conduct regular site safety assessments; provide reports on periodic inspections and corrective actions.
- Facilitate the investigation of accidents and follow up on corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with Local, State, Federal, OSHA and company standards.
- Stop hazardous operations where life hazard or major property damage is imminent and take corrective action before allowing personnel to resume work.
- Conduct safety meetings with all personnel involved.
- Be on site and observe and coach for safety compliance.
- Respond in the event of any Local, State or Federal Safety and Health investigation.
- The Safety Coordinator is expected to travel on a regular basis and conduct his/her business at the work sites. (Some projects are out of state). Also, it is expected that the Safety Coordinator will develop a professional working relationship with field personnel. This position is meant to aid all company personnel in successfully maintaining a safe and healthy work environment minimizing accidents while maintaining the highest level of safety.
