**Sugar Land Veterinary Specialists** is seeking a talented and dedicated small animal sonographer. We offer a supportive work environment and high-tech equipment, so you can do what you do best in imaging.

We are looking for a skilled, caring, collaborative, and friendly veterinary ultrasonographer to join our existing team of doctors and technicians in providing superior 24-hour specialty veterinary care in our hospital. We are looking for a veterinarian technician who is a skilled and experienced ultrasonographer. The ultrasound service will support our in-house emergency and specialty services.

You will work closely with our specialists and emergency DVMs to provide same-day ultrasound scans for pets when they need it most. Including but not limited to abdominal, thoracic, cardiac, cervical ultrasounds. Submitting cases via telemedicine and working with interpreting Radiologists to assist in diagnosing the pet's medical condition. Able to navigate and prioritize the day's cases to aid in the pet's needed treatments.

**Requirements**:

- ** Education**:

- Credentials as a veterinary technician (LVT/CVT/RVT/LVMT)(Highly preferred),
- Diagnostic medical sonographer (RDMS), AND/OR equivalent experience (e.g., advanced sonographer course certificates)
- Perform ultrasound studies including abdominal, thoracic, cardiac, cervical, and musculoskeletal studies
- 3+ years veterinary ultrasound experience
- Knowledge of trouble-shooting the machines and associated equipment
- Proficient knowledge of anatomy of canines and felines and related terms
- Possess effective communication with team members, radiologists, and specialists
- Properly and safely restrain small animals (dogs and cats)
- Compassionately, calmly and gently approach and handle patients according to safety protocols and core values.
- Knowledge to create and or review imaging protocols.
- Interpret and complete in-patient and out-patient work up requests by veterinarians within their skill set.
- Assist with ultrasound guided aspirates and diagnostic & therapeutic ultrasound guided centesis with sampling preparation

**Job Duties**:

- Maintain good relationships with and accept feedback from teleconsultation radiologists reading your studies (e.g., Antech, SonoPath, IDEXX, VetsChoice, etc.)
- Oversee outpatient and inpatient radiology and imaging schedules, coordinate with other departments, staff and radiologists
- Produce high quality diagnostic images in a timely manner
- Participate in the ultrasoundon-call rotation
- Partnering with DVM's in patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
- Perform anesthetic monitoring including intubation/extubation of patients, monitoring vitals, and troubleshooting of machines
- Obtain and prepare various blood samples for diagnostic testing
- Engage in self-reflection and program evaluation practices to modify and enhance SLVS ultrasound training programs
- Assist in developing ultrasound curriculum material, as needed, such as PowerPoints, videos, simulations, and assessments to be implemented across the doctor and technician training programs
- Able to train staff to form standard expectations with all patient imaging.
- May have the opportunity to provide educational demonstrations for doctors and technicians at other Lakefield clinics including ultrasound topics such as abdominal, thoracic, cardiac, cervical, and musculoskeletal studies

**Compensation**: $65,000 - 80,000 annually
