**Summary/Objective**

The Damage Prevention Manager (DPM) is responsible for establishing and maintaining an effective damage prevention program in a geographic section of the state in conjunction with local stakeholders. The DPM administers Texas811 education as available in their geographic region to support local activities that promote damage prevention and stakeholder safety. The DPM oversees all aspects of the Texas811 damage prevention outreach program in their area of responsibility.

- Implements Damage prevention activities including:

- Execution of Damage Prevention goals and strategies, identifying new opportunities to provide damage prevention services to stakeholders
- Facilitation of local damage prevention council chapters and assisting local leadership
- Leading in the planning and execution of local awareness activities and events to encompass all excavators and facility owners
- Support Operations function by providing feedback from current and potential members and excavators for service improvements
- Support Marketing and Business Development functions by identifying prospective members and promoting damage prevention products and services to stakeholders
- Support Education function by providing training and through promotion of educational material such as the Texas811 newsletter, Texas811 magazine, and Damage Prevention Council of Texas material
- Support the Sr. Damage Prevention Manager by assisting in the development of events
- Responsibilities may include other tasks needed to help support Texas811 and the DPC of Texas

- ** Must live within 1 hour of the Houston area**

**Required Education and Experience**
- 3-5 years’ experience in utility management and/or damage prevention activities (regulatory, locating, utility operations, etc.)
- Knowledge of utility operation/damage prevention
- Knowledge of excavation best practices
- Proven record in increasing awareness of facilities and hazards of 3rd party damage

**Competencies**

Technical Knowledge
- Knowledge of different types of underground utilities, including gas, liquids, electrical, telecommunications and water/wastewater
- Expertise in excavation best practices including tolerance zones, soft digging methods and mechanical excavation
- Familiarity with methods to prevent underground utility damage both during and before excavation
- Familiarity with local, state, and national regulations and guidelines including RRC Title 16, Chapter 18, and Texas Utility Code 251

Training and Communication Skills
- Experience in delivering training sessions, workshops, and seminars on damage prevention related topics
- Ability to develop training materials including presentations and instructional aids that cater to various learning styles
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey information to diverse and sometimes large audiences

Safety and Risk Mitigation
- Competence in identifying potential risks associated with excavation and underground utilities and developing strategies to mitigate these risks
- Strong emphasis on safety principles and the ability to instill a safety-first mindset in trainees

Interpersonal Skills
- Ability to work with a diverse range of individuals, including trainees, colleagues, different departments, and various stakeholders
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders

Technical Tools and Software
- Familiarity with the tools used in both excavation and underground utility locating

Professional Development
- Commitment to investing in yourself and professional development by staying with current trends, new technologies, and best practices in damage prevention and education

**Travel**

This position requires the ability to conduct business travel as needed; which may include frequent travel outside the local area and overnight.

**Work Environment**

This job operates primarily in a remote professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, scanners, and filing cabinets.
