**Essential Duties**
- The Office Specialist - Data and Billing role is a fast-paced, deadline-driven position which requires attention to detail, ability to multi-task, promotes a positive service environment, continuously evaluates and identifies opportunities to drive process improvements and positively impact the customer experience and aligns with our goals and objectives. The position reports to the Associate Director of University Housing Operations.
- Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Maintain accuracy of billing interfaces and reconcile all University Housing charges and credits
- Assess room, board, and other associated fees for University Housing residences through StarRez and daily audit tracking in conjunction with the University Housing Data Analyst
- Design alternative billing processes for groups that need customized options to enhance their experience with University Housing and ASU (Primary database is StarRez)
- Analyze complex billing data and make appropriate adjustments within residential software to meet the established business rules and requirements that University housing department follows
- Develop and prepare internal and external administrative reports, documents and process flows for external partners
- Manage a variety of requests for data entry and review, including but not limited to, Housing Campus Appeals, Housing Exceptions, Meal Plan Changes and Meal Plan Exemptions
- Work closely with the Information Technology, Occupancy Management, Operations, Residential Life and Sun Devil Hospitality teams to resolve customer concerns
- Research and advise department staff and other university staff on complex student account and billing matters
- Review billing and credits on student accounts to address appeals and to assist customers in understanding bills
- Participate in department wide presentation and group projects for admitted student and perspective student days
- Ability to foster and grow collaborative partnerships with University offices and departments
- Train department staff to read, understand and interpret billing inquiries for student questions
- Work one on one with students and families to address account concerns or questions
- Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned

**Minimum Qualifications**

Three (3) years of office/clerical experience, which includes one (1) year in a directly related function; OR,Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

**Desired Qualifications**
- Experience with: providing information and explanations of services, policies, rules, and regulations; developing and executing large scale operational tasks; working with committees; managing multiple projects
- Experience with data analysis, accounting, and/or financial reporting
- Evidence of effective written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills
- Experience meeting tight timelines while providing accurate information and services, with high attention to detail
- Ability to meet tight timelines while providing accurate information and quality customer service
- Experience with residential management system software such as StarRez, Atrium and PeopleSoft software packages
- Experience in analyzing data and using this information to drive future decisions in a way that improves customer service
- Self-motivated and/or self-starter with the ability to think proactively about completion of tasks

- Position may work nights and weekends and travel to support duties and operational functions on all campuses
