DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: Cultural Arts produces theatre and performances at the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s 200-seat Renberg Theatre and 50-seat Davidson/Valentini Theatre, in addition to curating visual art exhibitions in the Advocate & Gochis Galleries. An award-winning producer in the greater Los Angeles area, the Los Angles LGBT Center’s Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center presents performances and exhibits that illuminate the trials, triumphs, and truths of the LGBTQ+ community through theatre, music, dance, comedy, and visual art.

JOB SUMMARY: As scheduled and under the general supervision of the Technical and Production Manager, work with Hollywood Fringe Festival rentals to program, tech and run each performance, and oversee changeovers between shows during the festival.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Program lighting and audio/visual equipment and programs for Fringe Performances.
- Set-up and break down of each performance within the allotted time during the festival.
- Troubleshoot and problem solve AV issues before, during, and after Fringe performances.
- Follow security procedures particularly with respect to safety, equipment, and access.
- Monitor condition of equipment and supplies and report any problems or needs.
- Provide post-event feedback relating to event, equipment, facility.
- Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

- Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ people.
- A passion for the Center’s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people.
- Have a proven background in live special and theatrical events.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience running light and/or sound boards for live events, experience with QLab and Eos Operating Systems required.
- Working knowledge of and the ability to operate light and sound boards and various AV equipment for events and theatre; ability to program and/or mix preferred.
- Ability to run a show with mínimal technical rehearsals.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and an ability to interact appropriately with visiting as well as on-site technicians, theatrical producers, directors, designers, artists, and clients.
- Computer and internet literacy; ability to work with networked systems through QLab.
- Ability to implement event details from written work orders and to work effectively with mínimal supervision, as a team, as a team leader, and alone.
- Excellent time management skills are required.
- Evening and weekend hours required.
- Bilingual skills, a plus (English/Spanish fluency preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment.
