The project controls lead responsibilities include but are not limited to, working closely with project managers to ensure that all budgeting, scheduling and coordination processes run smoothly; developing a plan to complete construction projects based on budget, work schedule and available resources. Assisting with organizational decisions, such as which subcontractors to use for a given project. Overall, the project controls lead will "blueprint" the steps necessary to complete a construction project, including choosing technology and methods, defining work tasks and relationship, and estimating activity durations and resource requirements. Planning complex projects that place paramount concern on both schedule and cost is required. Other job duties include:

- Choose appropriate construction methods based upon budget, best-for-site conditions, highest efficiency output, and time and reliability of the given approaches
- Using acquired construction knowledge, identify work tasks and break down each operation on the job into sub-activities so that scheduling can be done
- Determine the sequence of relationship amongst tasks so that they can be completed in the correct order to maintain structural integrity, regulations, and other technical requirements
- Estimate activity durations, taking into account variables such as labor efficiency, crew type, crew size, material type, and weather, etc.
- Estimate the resources required to complete tasks while considering available space, tools and equipment.
- Identify resource availability to plan contingencies in order to avoid potential problems
- Perform routine committed costs review and then update necessary parties accordingly of progress and areas of opportunity
- Suggest changes to project managers and, upon approval to implement, install and manage the changes accordingly
- Responsible for creating and maintaining reports addressing all aspects of project development and completion
- Must be comfortable in presenting such reports to key leadership positions both inside and outside the organization
- Manage all data input in P6, ensuring accuracy and timely entry
- Work independently with project managers and construction leaders to maintain schedule integrity and accuracy
- Conduct frequent site visits and/or work on the job site to ensure accurate reporting of project progress

The summarized qualifications for this role are:

- Minimum 3-5 years of project scheduling experience
- Must have industrial Mechanical and I&E project scheduling experience
- Turnaround experience preferred
- Highly proficient in Primavera 6 and MS Office, primarily Excel
- Solid understanding of the critical path method (CPM) and familiar with integrated master schedules (IMS) and earned value management (EVM) reporting
- Experience in resource loaded schedules
- Familiar with construction drawings, specifications and construction contracting, and ability to review and understand engineering, procurement and construction schedule logic
- Capable of producing from limited project information a conceptual schedule from initiation through to closeout; able to identify major phases through that timeline and able to determine and discuss dependencies.
- Must have experience working closely with various disciplines in project teams to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the schedules produced
- Some cost engineering and estimating knowledge is highly preferred
- Excellent organization and time management capabilities
- Able to meet deadlines and respond well to impromptu deadline shifts
- Strong communication skills, to include all levels of management, both internal and external - oral and written
- Detail-oriented with quick follow-up skills
- Conduct frequent site visits and/or work on the job site to ensure accurate reporting of project progress
- College degree is preferred (Engineering or Business or related field)
- High school diploma or GED is required
