St. John of San Francisco Orthodox Academy is seeking a high school Science Teacher to start August of 2024 for the 24-25 academic school year..
This is a part-time position, consisting of teaching middle school science (and younger students as needed). There are two classes scheduled for middle school science next year, meeting 3-4 days a week.
The School: St. John’s Academy is a small K-12 classical Christian school located in the Outer Richmond district of San Francisco. We are co-ed and college preparatory. Job Title: Part-Time Science Teacher
Job Objectives:
To inspire and support students to become knowledgeable and wise citizens, prepared to think critically and analytically and to express themselves confidently and effectively
Job Functions:
Prepare and implement engaging lessons in science for middle school level using the St. John’s curriculum
Think creatively and be resourceful in the implementation of labs and science experiments using limited resources
Assess student achievement using a variety of assessment tools
Provide feedback to students about their progress in a timely, supportive manner
Differentiate instruction for students with a variety of modes of learning
Communicate progress with students and their parents/guardians
Minimum Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in related field, or currently working towards completion of a degree
Teaching experience preferred, but not required
Ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders, including children and adults with limited English
Preferred Personal Qualities:
Be a role model in attitude, speech and actions toward others
Have the spiritual maturity and leadership abilities to align with St. John’s Academy’s mission of providing a rigorous Classical education in a loving Orthodox environment
Exemplify a dedication to the Trancendentals--Truth, Goodness, and Beauty--and demonstrate additional character qualities such as servant leadership, humility, integrity, courage, enthusiasm, strength, courtesy, flexibility, gratitude, and wellness qualities such as energy, grit, and perseverance

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
Work primarily in traditional classroom environment
