As a key member of the Product Engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in the scale-up and commercialization of Sol de Janeiro formulations. Specializing in the transition from bench to production, this position requires a blend of technical prowess in manufacturing processes, a keen eye for efficiency, and a commitment to quality and sustainability. You will work closely with contract manufacturers (CMs) to ensure the flawless scalability of our products, aligning technical requirements with business goals.

This role will report to the **Director of Product Engineering.**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Manufacturing Development**: Lead the end-to-end manufacturing development process for new and existing product formulations, focusing on scalability, efficiency, quality and sustainability. This includes managing pilot batches, line trials, and first production runs, in preparation to hand off on-going production to supply chain.
- **Formulation & Process Expertise**: Leverage in-depth knowledge of cosmetic chemistry and process engineering optimization to ensure product formulations' robustness, consistency, and compliance at scale.
- **Cross-Functional Collaboration**: Serve as a technical liaison between contract manufacturers, and internal teams such as Product Development, Packaging, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain and Quality, ensuring cohesive efforts in product commercialization.
- **Process Optimization**: Continuously seek out and evaluate new processing technologies and methods that can enhance manufacturing efficiency and sustainability. Drive initiatives to implement these improvements in collaboration with CMs.
- **Sustainable Manufacturing**: Advocate and integrate sustainable practices throughout the manufacturing process, aligning with organizational goals for environmental responsibility.
- **Technical Leadership**: Provide technical guidance and support across various projects, ensuring manufacturing processes are optimized for quality, cost, and time-to-market.
- Other duties as assigned depending on needs of the business.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline; an advanced degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 4+ years' experience in a technical engineering role within the beauty or consumer goods industry is preferred.
- Proven track record in leading successful product scale-up pilots, line trials, and manufacturing readiness projects within the beauty sector.
- Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management capabilities.
- Willingness to 50% travel
- Must be comfortable working a hybrid schedule (1-3 days per week in our NY Office)

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with the possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
