We are seeking a highly motivated**_ Research Program Coordinator _**with primary responsibilities to the NIH-funded Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) Study.

The Research Program Coordinator will take a leadership role in the ARIC single IRB working directly with the project PIs and senior IRB staff to re-write protocols, submit materials, and master the system sufficiently to allow for smooth operation of this large multi-center study. The Coordinator will also work directly with senior staff and faculty at the other 6 universities to maintain their submission and approval of materials.

**Specific Duties & Responsibilities**
- Work on complex research studies which require a high level of knowledge and coordination, while maintaining written protocols.
- Prepare and submit annual review requests, amendments, and adverse event reports with input according to IRB and sponsor requirements.
- Provide training to junior team members with some oversight functions.
- Oversee operations of the ARIC Publications Committee. The Research Coordinator will support the study editors in handling ~200 manuscripts annually for review, including tracking external reviews and correspondence of approval or concerns. The Coordinator will also either handle or supervise the handling of monthly manuscript proposal approval letters (~10-30 proposals/month). Collate and summarize annual data on publications in collaboration with the ARIC Coordinating Center.
- Collaborate with the Chair of the ARIC Ancillary Studies Committee to efficiently review, track, and approve submitted ARIC Ancillary Studies in collaboration with the ARIC Steering Committee and Coordinating Center.
- Other projects may include coordination of research activities related to ARIC Ancillary Studies and activities at the Johns Hopkins Comstock Research Center, the ARIC Neurocognitive Study (ARIC-NCS), the Aging and Cognitive Health Evaluation in Elders (ACHIEVE) Clinical Trial, and the Johns Hopkins Cardiovascular Epidemiology T32 Training Program.
- Abilities needed_
- Detail oriented, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Able to carry out duties and responsibilities with limited supervision and ask for clarification when needed.
- Solid understanding of research methodology and the IRB.
- Sound working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent time management skills and experience managing multiple projects, working with a team.
- Must have well developed organizational skills, advanced communication skills, and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Must have demonstrable experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
- Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Work experience can substitute for advanced degree.
