**SUMMARY**:
**DUTIES**:
**1. Database Design and Implementation**:

- Collaborate with development teams to design and implement efficient database structures.
- Create and modify database objects such as tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures.
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and security across all databases.

**2. Database Maintenance and Optimization**:

- Perform regular database maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, and data purging.
- Monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexes, and database configurations.
- Identify and resolve database-related issues, such as performance bottlenecks and deadlocks.

**3. Database Security and Compliance**:

- Implement and maintain database security measures, including user access controls and data encryption.
- Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations, such as GDPR or HIPAA.
- Conduct periodic security audits and vulnerability assessments.

**4. Database Monitoring and Troubleshooting**:

- Monitor database systems to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Investigate and troubleshoot database errors, performance problems, and data inconsistencies.
- Implement monitoring tools and alerts to detect and respond to potential problems.

**5. Database Documentation and Reporting**:

- Document database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including data dictionaries and ER diagrams.
- Generate reports on database performance, usage, and capacity planning.

**6. Collaboration and Support**:

- Provide technical support and guidance to developers and end-users.
- Participate in on-call rotation for database-related emergencies.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Proven work experience as a SQL DBA, with expertise in both DB2 and SQL Server.
- Strong knowledge of database design principles, query optimization, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.
- Experience with database performance tuning and capacity planning.
- Familiarity with database security and compliance standards.
- Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies for both DB2 and SQL Server.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Certification in DB2 and SQL Server administration.
- Experience with other database systems such as Oracle or MySQL.
- Knowledge of cloud-based database services, such as Amazon RDS or Azure SQL Database.
- Familiarity with database automation and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
- Experience with database replication and high availability solutions.

**EDUCATION**:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
