**Essential Functions**

The developmental editor will assist Kathleen Volk Miller, teaching professor in the department of English & Philosophy, with preparation of the manuscript from her forthcoming book, “Teaching Writing Through Journaling; How Journaling Positively Effects Writing, Critical Thinking, and Well Being.” The book will be released in December and is being published by Rowman & Littlefield. The book is part of a series “Teaching Writing ” of which Kathleen Volk Miller is the series editor. This position will begin in mid-June 2024 and end early August 2024.

**Essential Functions**
- Proofreading the 160-220 page manuscript.
- checking citations against publisher’s house style and copyright laws.
- Consistency editing.
- Advance marketing assistance.

**Required Qualifications**
- Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in English or Communication.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Experience with academic writing and research.
- An ability to stay organized and focused while also thinking creatively.
- A working knowledge of citation format and copyright laws.
- Available roughly 5 hours per week for work, mostly flexible and remote, but including meetings.
