**Primary Responsibility**:
The primary role of the Pre-College Transitions Coordinator is to oversee academic enrichment support, provide academic advising for potential college students, contribute to all monthly reports and daily touchpoints pertaining to College Success programs. The incumbent should utilize a Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity (DEI) lens and Restorative Practices lens in developing a sense of community among youth participants in Academic Support programming by collaborating with internal Larkin Street Youth Services programs and external agencies in college related programming, advising, and curriculum development including: teaching college readiness, Math, English, matriculation, retention, graduation, educational plans, and event coordination.

**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**:

- Outreach to potential students at Larkin Street Youth Services by providing one-on-one advising, drop-in sessions, and/or workshops about college matriculation, retention, and/or graduation
- Matriculate potential students into public colleges and/or universities
- Support students in Academic Support programs who are enrolled in public colleges and/or universities by increasing student pathways towards educational degree and/or certificates
- Assess the student situation with housing, basic needs, mental well-being, work, tuition, fees and provide a timeline of student matriculation in conjunction with the student
- Schedule appointments with students to review student 5-year plan pertaining to college and careers goals and support students by creating action plans for students
- Research and keep up to date with public colleges/university deadlines, majors, and general education requirements
- Ensure that students have received a high school diploma or equivalent prior to matriculation process into post-secondary education
- Support and coordinate Academic Support events as well was providing support for all Larkin Street Youth Services events
- Input touchpoints into Larkin Street Youth Services’ database through Enterprise Nonprofit Software (ETO)
- Work with Larkin Street Academy in implementing college-going culture and contribute to the Monthly Newsletters
- Coordinate between case managers and clients to clarify expectations, requirements, availability, incentives, etc.
- Foster relationships with community that strengthen the program
- Creates activities to support college and career exploration
- Track student attendance and stipends
- Oversee the Attempt Cultivate Execute (A.C.E) Program

**OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- As a staff in Larkin Street Academy, incumbent may be asked to support other Larkin Street Youth Services programs during emergencies
- Collect and disseminate information on academic requirements, employment opportunities, and other pertinent services weekly to college program
- Timely completion of all services forms
- Responsible for supporting program services within the milieu. For example, crisis intervention or helping to maintain the safety of the program
- Responsible for contributing towards the care and welfare of staff and to the clients we serve
- Other duties as assigned

**PHYSICAL & LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS**:

- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Requires ability to lift, transfer, push/pull, maneuver, and reposition 25 lbs.
- Ability to reach, bend and walk
- Finger manipulation
- Ability to comprehend complex materials
- Ability to speak and write English clearly and accurately

**EDUCATION**:

- At least an Associate of Arts or equivalent degree in Social Work or related field or has at least 2- 3 years of college advising experience
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in social work or related field

**BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE**:

- Previous experience working with marginally housed youth between ages 18-24
- Knowledge of two
- and four-year postsecondary institutions (including Career and Technical Education programs)
- Curriculum development a plus
- Tutoring and Instruction experience
- Ability to use experience and judgment to manage goals and projects
- Ability to be a self-starter with follow-through skills.
- Working knowledge of issues facing homeless youth
