**Job description**

Creekside Digital is seeking a full-time Digital Imaging Tech for a 6-month digitization project at the Library of Congress that ends on 12/31/2024. The Digital Imaging Tech will operate a microfilm scanner and other equipment to digitize a microfilm collection according to contract specifications. This is a full-time, (40 hour a week; Monday-Friday) contract position, working on-site at the Library of Congress. All technical and specific daily tasks for this position will be trained on-site.

**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:

- Requesting materials to be digitized.
- Performing periodic scanner calibration and ensuring that the imaging system is operating within pre-established parameters.
- Determining exposure levels and adjusting scanner controls to obtain the best image quality.
- Carefully handling and digitizing microfilm reels using production digitization equipment.
- Carefully name files scanned during digitization based on project specifications.
- Perform various image post-processing steps using a variety of software tools.
- Perform quality assurance to ensure work accuracy and conduct fixes as necessary.
- Maintaining inventory and production tracking spreadsheets.

**To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualifications**:

- Previous scanning or photographic experience, either through recent education or recent work experience.
- Experience handling fragile archival materials and/or microfilm.
- Dependable, positive attitude, and detail-oriented with the ability to multitask.
- Experience working in a Windows PC environment and an understanding of computer networks and file shares.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop and other image editing programs.
- Experience with image manipulation techniques such as cropping, deskewing, and exposure adjustments are a plus.
- The ability to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Background in IT, Graphic Design, Photography, and/or History a plus.

- 8 hour shift

Application Question(s):

- A roll of microfilm contains between 500-3,000 pages. This job requires a lot of attention to detail. Are you okay with a job that involves visually inspecting thousands of images?
- This is a standard office-hours shift (Monday - Friday from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM). Will this shift work for you?
- Would you have any concerns with passing a background check that the Library of Congress conducts? Sometimes this can take the Library of Congress over a month to complete prior to someone being able to come onboard.
- This is a position for a contract that ends December 31, 2024. There may be additional opportunities beyond that date, but that depends on if the Library of Congress has more work for Creekside Digital to perform. Are you okay with these terms?
