Postdoctoral Research Scientist

A postdoctoral research position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Chike Cao at University of Rochester Medical School, Rochester, New York from December 2025 or soon thereafter. The Cao lab is located in the Center for Musculoskeletal Research (CMSR) and the Department of Otheopaedics. We aim to understand the physiological and pathophysiological contribution of CaV1.2 voltage-gated Ca2+ channel and the molecular basis of Ca2+-dependent cellular processes during bone and tendon development, postnatal growth, repair/regeneration upon injury, and ectopic bone formation in soft tissues. Our lab integrates genetic mouse models, human disease specimens, primary cell cultures, pharmacological tools, next-generation sequencing, multiphoton Ca2+ imaging, and histological/immunohistochemical analyses to elucidate the molecular mechanisms and signaling pathways regulating CaV1.2 in bone and tendon physiology and pathophysiology. Highly motivated individuals with interests in the field of musculoskeletal development, diseases and repair, and mouse models are encouraged to apply. Candidates with research experience in cell biology, developmental biology, and animal models are preferred. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree or equivalent. The successful applicants will join a dynamic team of scientists at CMSR and benefit from the unique, collaborative research environment.
