Senior Applications Architect

Base Pay Range $160,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr The Investment Company Institute (ICI) is the leading association representing regulated investment funds, including mutual funds, exchangetraded funds (ETFs), closedend funds, and unit investment trusts (UITs) in the United States, and UCITS and similar funds offered to investors in Europe, Asia, and other jurisdictions. ICI also represents its members on issues involving the capital markets, separately managed accounts (SMAs) and collective investment trusts (CITs). The Senior Applications Architect is a strategic, handson role that will guide and support the Applications team as the company undertakes a multiyear modernization, moving from legacy platforms to a modern, scalable, and AIenabled technology stack. This position will play a key role in addressing complex technical challenges, fostering collaboration, and helping team members grow their skills. Working closely with developers and business stakeholders, the Architect will enable the team to deliver highimpact solutions that align with the companys modernization goals. Essential Functions Of This Role Include Leading and mentoring project teams to foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Designing and implementing application modernization strategies, including migration from legacy systems to cloudnative platforms. Architecting enterprise applications and integrations using modern frameworks (.NET Core, Java Spring Boot, React/Angular, REST, GraphQL). Embedding AI and machine learning capabilities into business applications using platforms such as Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI, OpenAI APIs, and Claude Code. Leveraging AI pair programming tools such as GitHub Copilot, Codeium, Tabnine, and Claude Code to accelerate development and improve code quality. Utilizing infrastructure automation and observability tools including Terraform with AI, OpenHands, K8sGPT, Datadog AI Ops, New Relic, and Dynatrace. Implementing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins AI Plugins, and Launchable to support rapid and reliable software delivery. Integrating automated testing and quality assurance tools such as Testim, Mabl, SonarQube, and Codacy. Promoting collaborative documentation and knowledge sharing using Notion AI, Confluence AI, Swimm, Slack GPT, and Microsoft Copilot. Collaborating with cybersecurity and compliance teams to ensure applications meet regulatory and security requirements. If you have the following credentials, we encourage you to apply: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Masters preferred). 10+ years of experience in software/application development, including 35 years of management experience. Proven experience with modern application architectures (cloudnative, microservices, containerization, serverless). Strong background in legacy system modernization and migration. Handson experience with AIenhanced development tools and platforms across the execution, automation, testing, and monitoring layers. Proficiency in enterprise development stacks and cloud platforms (e.g., .NET Core, Java Spring Boot, React/Angular, Azure/AWS). Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Gitbased source control. Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with crossfunctional teams. Compensation is based on several factors, including but not limited to, qualifications for the position, experience, education, and internal peer compensation comparisons. Base pay is one component of ICIs total compensation, which also includes healthcare benefits, generous 401(k) plan, transit subsidy, and paid leave.
