The Instructional Design Manager is responsible for identifying, developing and delivering training programs and leading change management processes to drive high levels of performance across Family Dollar divisions. It requires a strategic thinker with hands-on expertise in instructional design, learning management systems (LMS), multimedia production, and cross-functional collaboration with internal and external teams. Principal Duties and Responsibilities - Primary responsibilities listed in order of importance. Develop and maintain course design schedule Demonstrate competence with design, concepts, techniques and processes that support effective adult learning using all environments: print, web-based, classroom, etc. Demonstrate a working knowledge of learning management systems (administration, tracking, and basic technical requirement – Workday Preferred) Design and develop content for web-based delivery Convert source documents, procedures, processes into interactive online learning programs Demonstrate experience in developing paper-based training modules Demonstrate experience in delivering interactive training face-to-face to associates at all levels in the organization Demonstrate process mapping skills by documenting complex workflows or tasks into effective learning aids or procedures. Be pro-active in making recommendations, developing and implementing performance improvement practices Work with Operations, Logistics and other divisions to determine new course needs Evaluate and modify existing courses to ensure they continue to meet the training need Manage creation of high-quality instructional videos, animations, and other multimedia assets Plan, film, and edit video content for a variety of purposes including training, internal communications, executive messaging, and promotional campaigns Collaborate with stakeholders to develop video concepts, scripts, and storyboards Partner with executive leadership on pre-production, production, and post-production to develop polished, professional video content for internal and external audiences, including town halls, strategic updates, and thought leadership Operate cameras, lighting, and audio equipment to capture professional-grade footage Support development of communication materials that promote learning programs and drive engagement Ensure consistency in tone, branding, and messaging across all learning and communication touchpoints Maintain a library of digital learning assets and ensure accessibility and brand consistency Minimum Requirements/Qualifications - Summary of knowledge, experience and education required. Masters Degree in Instructional Design or equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum of 10 years' experience in adult learning environment with a proven track record of initiating, researching, planning, and driving the completion of concurrent comprehensive training initiatives Extensive experience with web-based training development tools, Microsoft Office, Project, screen capture tools, illustration/graphic software 5 + years of experience with MX Studio (Flash, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks) 5 + years of experience in the use of video editing software (Adobe Premier Preferred)5 + years of experience in videography, video editing, or multimedia production Must have working knowledge of Synthesia or other AI software Excellent writing, grammar, and editing skills Demonstrate a high level of initiative Must have the ability to manage multiple projects Ability to organize, prioritize, execute, and project manage multiple projects concurrently Must be able to cope with high stress situations and meet strict deadlines
