Job SummaryPerform, under the responsibility and supervision of the physician, diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to establish a diagnosis and to plan therapy. Assist in gathering the data necessary in implementing the therapeutic plan of the physician. Act as a patient advocate in the medical care system serving as confidant, advisor, and liaison between the patient and physician.
Job Duties

We are adding an Advance Practitioner to our Trauma Surgery team at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

  • Advanced Practitioner-run clinic time two days a week
  • Opportunity for first assist OR available.
  • Work schedule consists of thirteen (13) twelve-hour shifts a month.
  • Current team consists of seven (7) other Advanced Practitioners.
  • Limited weekend coverage.
  • Minimal call coverage.
  • Ability to work closely with residents.
  • Performs initial assessment and triage of patients based on information obtained pertinent to presenting condition.
  • Keeps track of pertinent procedure and laboratory results, discusses with physician, and returns call to family and patient regarding the results and plans.
  • Assists with arranging appropriate follow-up for the patients.
  • Answers and returns phone calls from established patients and their families and assess the needs of patient and family.
  • Discusses plan with the physician and relays information to the family and patient.
  • Obtains or assists in the preauthorization process for medications, diagnostic studies, and treatments which the employee is qualified to perform.
  • Screening patients.
  • Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
