Health & Safety Director

OverviewAmp Americas is seeking an HR & Talent Acquisition Specialist focused on Health & Safety (H&S) leadership. This is a field-based role responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive H&S strategies, systems, and programs across Amp Americas' operations. The H&S Director will ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, operating permits, and reporting requirements, while fostering a culture of health and safety stewardship. The position reports to the Chief Operating Officer on an interim basis and collaborates with the VP of Operations, VP of Engineering, and VP of Project Delivery to maintain open communication with the executive team. This role supports the company’s growth in the renewable natural gas (RNG) industry. Base pay range$150,000.00/yr - $175,000.00/yrWhat We OfferCompensation package commensurate with experience including equityComprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurancePaid time off and company paid holidaysOpportunity to build your career in a company on the cutting edge of the RNG industryHQ Office location is near Armitage and Clybourn in ChicagoCasual dress codeKey ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute H&S strategies aligned withAmp Americas' objectives and industry best practices across field operationsOversee development, implementation, and maintenance of H&S policies, procedures, and management systemsEnsure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local H&S regulations across Amp Americas' facilitiesCollaborate with senior leadership to integrate H&S considerations into business decisions and growth strategiesDevelop and manage the H&S budget and allocate resources to support safetyLead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and implement corrective actionsCoordinate with the Operations Division Trainer to integrate H&S principles into operator trainingReview and approve contractor safety programs and ensure compliance with Amp Americas' safety standardsDevelop and track KPIs for H&S performance with regular reports to senior managementLead emergency preparedness and response planning for all facilitiesStay current with emerging H&S trends, technologies, and RNG regulationsVisit operating facilities and new construction sites to conduct safety audits on personnel, equipment, and materialsSkills / Abilities / QualificationsBachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, or related field5-10 years of experience in H&S management, with at least 5 years in an industrial processing industry such as RNG, oil and gas, power generation, pulp and paper, natural gas compression, or pipelinesExtensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory standardsProven track record of developing and implementing successful H&S programs in industrial settingsSelf-starter with ability to influence and motivate at all levelsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills for senior management and external stakeholdersExperience with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and OSHA VPPCertified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred; with preference for additional relevant certifications (e.g., CIH, CHMM)Familiarity with renewable energy, biogas, or related industries is a plusProficiency in data analysis and reporting, translating H&S metrics into actionable insightsStrong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions in high-pressure situationsWillingness to travel to Amp Americas facilities as needed (approximately 50% of the time)About Amp AmericasAmp Americas owns and operates one of the largest carbon negative fuels producing portfolios in the U.S. Amp makes ultra-low carbon intensity renewable natural gas (RNG) from dairy waste at 7 facilities in 3 states processing manure from over 100,000 cows.
