Professional Counselor at Providence St Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR.

Full-Time/Day Shift

The Professional Counselor practices in a treatment setting under clinical supervision and is dedicated to evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric and substance use disorders. The Professional Counselor will collaborate with patient/support system to evaluate and diagnose patients. This position will provide specialized psychotherapy services, as described in the CPT, to reduce and /or resolve symptoms of psychiatric and/or substance use disorders identified. Under direct clinical supervision, the Professional Counselor will utilize established approaches and standards; complete assessment of patient risk to self and/or others; complete and implement risk reduction/mitigation plans to ensure patient and community safety; incorporate evidence based approaches to psychotherapy including but not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and the recovery model.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in counseling or related field
  • Oregon Professional Counselor Associate License upon hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year - Master's level practicum in a behavioral health setting in an accredited college or university internship.
  • Additional experience in substance use treatment setting.
