Assistant Controller Position Summary:

The Assistant Controller will play a vital role in managing the financial operations of the company. This positions main focuses are month-end close processes, financial reporting, fixed asset management, and job costing. The ideal candidate will have manufacturing experience, strong ERP system expertise (preferably SAP or QuickBooks), and at least 5 years of accounting experience.


Key Responsibilities for Assistant Controller:

  • Month-End Close:

    • Lead and execute the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements.
    • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals.

  • Financial Reporting:

    • Develop and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to leadership.
    • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies in all reporting.

  • Fixed Assets Management:

    • Maintain the fixed asset register, including asset additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules.
    • Conduct periodic reviews to ensure proper valuation and accuracy.

  • Job Costing:

    • Analyze job costing data to assess profitability and identify cost-saving opportunities.
    • Partner with operations to refine cost allocation methods.

  • ERP System Management:

    • Utilize and manage the ERP system for all accounting and reporting processes.
    • Support system improvements, upgrades, and integrations (experience with SAP or QuickBooks preferred).

  • Leadership & Collaboration:

    • Provide support to the Controller and leadership team in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial data aligns with operational goals.
    • Supervise, mentor, and guide junior accounting staff as needed.

Qualifications for Assistant Controller:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

  • Experience:

    • 5+ years of accounting experience, with exposure to manufacturing environment.
    • Strong understanding of job costing, fixed asset management, and financial reporting.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficient in ERP systems, preferably SAP or QuickBooks.
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis).

  • Soft Skills:

    • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
