As a Level I Trauma Center, the ED at GW Hospital is equipped to handle the most complex emergency cases, with highly specialized teams available 24/7.
- The Emergency Department is a 62-bed unit, including resuscitation rooms, fast-track areas, and specialized spaces for trauma, cardiac emergencies, and stroke.
- Our ED is supported by state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment facilities, with rapid access to radiology, laboratory, and surgical services.
- The ED is staffed by board-certified emergency physicians, nurse practitioners, and a highly skilled team of emergency-trained nurses.
Our focus is on delivering immediate, patient-centered care while maintaining close collaboration with other specialty areas for seamless patient transitions and long-term outcomes.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Paramedic to join our Emergency Department team. In this role, you will provide advanced pre-hospital and in-hospital emergency care, working alongside physicians and nurses to ensure the highest quality care for our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver advanced life support (ALS) and basic life support (BLS) care to patients in the ED.
- Assist in emergency medical procedures, including IV therapy, airway management, medication administration, and EKG interpretation.
- Triage patients and assist in monitoring vital signs and clinical status.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to stabilize and treat critically ill and injured patients.
- Maintain and operate ED equipment and supplies, ensuring readiness and compliance with hospital standards.
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the patient’s medical record.
- Participate in ED quality improvement and safety initiatives.
Qualifications
- Required: Current Paramedic Certification (National or DC).
- Required: ACLS and PALS certifications through the American Heart Association.
- Preferred: Experience in emergency or acute care settings.
- Strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
