Chatham County Mosquito Control is a small Public Aircraft operation specializing in Mosquito Control Aerial Application, Aerial Fire suppression, Search and Rescue, External Load, Disaster Mitigation, and related activities. We also support General Utility, Short Haul, and Law Enforcement. We seek a professional helicopter pilot with proven leadership skills as this is a management position.

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Mosquito Control Director, you will oversee the daily operational activities of the Mosquito Control Aviation Division. You will organize, maintain curriculum, conduct, and document training for pilots and mechanics. You will supervise personnel during At-Risk operations. You will maintain pilot flight logs and records and perform minor repairs and inspections to the four Chatham County helicopters. You will operate light turbine-powered helicopters over all types of terrain to assist in the suppression of wildland and other types of fires. Occasionally you may be involved in making water drops in assigned fire suppression target areas, effecting rescues, and transporting crews and logistical materials to the emergency event. You will perform general law enforcement assignments to protect life and property and prevent and suppress criminal law violators. You will research, develop, and write procedures for the Aviation Unit. Other duties may be assigned .

Job Requirements Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED, and at least three (3) years of experience in piloting rotary-wing aircraft and aerial applications of pesticides; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Associate Degree preferred. You m ust possess FAA-issued rotorcraft/helicopter ATP or Helicopter Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument Rating. You m ust meet FAR 119/135 requirements for Chief Pilot, possess current Class II medical certificate, and possess current FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate. You must have a minimum of 3000 hours total pilot-in-command helicopter and a minimum of 500 hours Pilot-in-command MD 500 series. You must be able to swim. You must possess and maintain a valid Georgia drivers license. Current Helicopter Flight Instructor certificate with Night Vision Goggle endorsement is preferred. A minimum of 200 hours Vertical Reference External Load is preferred.

Note : During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team. This is a safety sensitive position and subject to random drug testing.
