You'll bring strong technical skills, a systematic approach to problem-solving, deep experience with scalable backend systems, and the ability to architect solutions that balance speed with reliability. The right candidate thrives on building elegant systems in a fast-paced startup environment where your work directly shapes the product.You'll work with our CTO, AI engineering team, CEO, and CRO in a flat structure with rotating project ownership. We work in 2-3 week cycles managed through Linear, where everyone contributes to shaping the product direction.What You'll DoBuild Inku's full production platform — from the data foundation layer that ingests and processes brand materials, to the APIs that power generation, to the user-facing interfaces that make brand-perfect content creation feel effortlessArchitect and implement both backend services and frontend experiences for our generation workflowCreate intuitive interfaces for brand material ingestion, generation controls, asset management, and collaboration featuresWork collaboratively with our engineers to integrate generation workflows, GPU infrastructure, and model scaling optimizations into seamless user experiencesBuild the systems that connect brand identity (images, guidelines, videos, company culture) to AI-generated outputs through robust data pipelines and intelligent matchingShip high-quality, well-tested code across the full stackEstablish engineering practices, architecture patterns, and the technical foundation as we scale to productionOwn features end-to-end — from database design to API implementation to the user interfaceRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline AND 6+ years of technical engineering experience building scalable web applications, OR equivalent experienceDeep experience building production-grade services on cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) with a focus on performance and reliabilityExperience with Next.js and React, building responsive and intuitive user interfacesExperience with datastores (PostgreSQL, Redis, vector databases) and data pipeline architectureProven ability to design and implement APIs that balance flexibility with performancePreferred QualificationsExperience with AI/ML platforms, frameworks, and deployment at scaleHands-on experience with generative models or other generative AI systems — either in production or through deep personal explorationExperience building creative tools, media applications, or platforms where the user experience around asset generation/management is criticalComfort working with image processing, media pipelines, and handling large binary assetsExperience with Rust for performance-critical servicesUnderstanding of GPU infrastructure and optimisation for AI workloadsAbility to move between strategic architecture decisions and hands-on implementationStrong communication skills and comfort working in a small, collaborative team where everyone contributes to product directionExperience in early-stage startups or environments where you've built systems from the ground upPassion for creative tools and understanding of design/brand workflowsIntellectual curiosity about the intersection of AI and creativity — you're excited about solving the problem of authentic, on-brand AI generationWhat Makes This Role DifferentWe're not just building another AI content tool.
