Reporting to the Bakery Department Manager, the Pastry Chef is responsible for the overall production of all bakery products (bread, cake and/or other pastries) produced and sold at the store. The position also oversees and plans ingredients and dough for bread, cakes, rolls, mousses, puddings, sweet goods, batters, icings and frostings in accordance with standard operating procedures or customer orders.T&T Supermarkets has over 30 years of experience as a leading Asian grocery retailer and is expanding in the United States.ResponsibilitiesOversee the production of all bakery products—including bread, cakes, and pastries—ensuring consistent quality and adherence to company standards.Plan and manage ingredient preparation, including doughs, batters, icings, and frostings, for both standard and custom orders.Supervise the baking process and ensure accurate execution of all production steps, from mixing to finishing.Monitor product quality, control inventory and waste, and ensure timely replenishment of ingredients.Lead and support the Bakery Production team with fair task allocation, proper scheduling, and daily guidance.Provide training, hands-on demonstrations, and constructive feedback to promote staff development and performance.Participate in new product development and encourage team involvement in innovation.Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and equipment upkeep while ensuring compliance with workplace safety standards.Support the overall bakery operation, respond to customer inquiries, and lead by example to foster teamwork and strong working relationships.Fulfill any additional responsibilities as assigned by superiors, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the department.QualificationsMinimum 3 years of hands-on experience in bakery production, including dough mixing, cake decorating, and baking techniquesKnowledge of food safety and workplace health & safety; FoodSafe certification requiredExperience in supervising bakery production workflow, managing costs, and minimizing wasteStrong ability to lead, train, and motivate team members effectivelyExcellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skillsCreative and capable of supporting product development and innovation in bakery itemsGood communication skills in English; proficiency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin is an assetFamiliar with tools and equipment relevant to bakery operationsDemonstrates reliability, accountability, and a proactive, self-motivated work attitudeTeam-oriented, collaborative, and committed to maintaining good attendance and following company policiesBenefitsCompetitive WagesPaid Holiday LeavePremium Pay For Holiday Work HoursGenerous Paid Time Off (Annual Vacation, Sick, Marriage, Bereavement)Medical, Dental & Vision CareLife & AD&D InsuranceEmployee Assistance Program401(k) Retirement PlanPaid Training10% Off In-store Staff Purchase DiscountSubsidized staff mealBirthday CakeLong Service AwardStaff Recreation ActivityConditions ApplySafety StatementSafety continues to be T&T Supermarket’s top priority.
